Veterans Unemployment Hits Seven-Year Low In October

In October, veterans unemployment hit a seven-year low. Veterans, who make up roughly 7.5% of the working population, experienced only 3.9% unemployment overall according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Additionally, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans also experienced a record-low unemployment rate as well, with just 4.6% being unable to find work.

The mark is the lowest for veterans seeking work since April 2008, and is part of a five-year streak of the veterans outpacing the national rate of unemployment.

This comes amid a run of good news, a stark change from the double-digit unemployment rates for some veterans groups in the early part of the decade.
