On Thursday, the Department of Veterans Affairs will be begin issuing Choice Cards, allowing eligible veterans who are struggling to access VA medical centers to receive care outside the VA network. These cards are intended for veterans who live more than 40 miles from a VA medical center. On Nov. 17, another round of Choice Cards will be distributed to those who have waited more than 30 days beyond their preferred date for a medical appointment.
It is expected that choice cards will be issued to approximately 700,000 veterans around the country.
