What is the one piece of EDC gear you absolutely cannot live without?

Keys, wallets, and phones are a part of everyone’s daily life, but we all know the value of a great piece of gear that goes above and beyond. In fact, for most of us, there is that one tool we swear to never go anywhere without. For some, it’s a knife or a flashlight, and for others it could be a pen paired with a pad of paper.

The work we do, the places we’ve been, and the people we know all shape us into who we are, and the same is true for each person’s choice of everyday carry gear. Growing up in the American West, knives are a part of my DNA, and I never leave home without a blade or two somewhere on my person, each with its dedicated purpose. As a former aquatics professional, I’ve gotten so used to having first aid and CPR gear close at hand, I cannot fathom the concept of heading anywhere without a small pack full of said equipment. Throw a 350-lumen waterproof flashlight and a few other knick-knacks into the mix, and I’m ready to roll.

At Task & Purpose, we’re always looking for great pieces of gear to review, and we want to hear from you. When you head out the door every day, what is that one piece of kit that always goes with you? Whether you simply load your pockets or throw everything in an off-body EDC bag, we want to know what EDC gear you can’t live without.
