Kyle Gunn, Social Media Editor at Task & Purpose

About

Kyle Gunn is the Producer of the Task & Purpose YouTube channel, assuming the role in April of 2025.

Experience

Kyle has been with Task & Purpose since 2021, coming aboard in April of that year as the social media editor. Four years later, he assumed the Producer role for the YouTube page, inheriting nearly 2 million subscribers and absolutely no pressure not to screw it all up.

As social media editor, he made hundreds of short-form videos for Instagram and only one of them was so bad it had to deleted.

Prior to working at Task & Purpose, Kyle was the producer and social media editor for Zero Blog Thirty under Barstool Sports. He got that job by starting a parody account on Twitter making fun of 'The Code' on CBS, which T&P included in an article, so yeah his entire professional arc started with being a mild troll on Twitter and its come full circle. Beautiful.

Despite the jokes, Kyle cares a lot about the military and veteran communities. He served as a Marine, deploying to Afghanistan in 2011 with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and got out in 2017.

Education

Kyle attended Colorado State University, where he made it 3.5 years toward a history degree before he dropped out and enlisted in the Marine Corps. After the Marine Corps, he graduated Summa Cum Laude (not to brag) from Craven County Community College (very prestigious) with an Associates of Science degree in Networking and Cyber Security.

Highlights

  • Kyle rotates through hobbies, each one exposing another rabbit hole to crawl down and dig yet another hobby out of.
  • He was a Marine, and then after that, a mindless government contractor until he started a parody account on Twitter and then got hired to do social media for Zero Blog Thirty, which led to Task & Purpose
  • In his time with Task & Purpose, he’s found new ways to connect with and work alongside the military and veteran communities.

Fun Fact

When Kyle isn’t reading the comments on YouTube, he practices jiu-jitsu where he is the best blue belt named Kyle at the entire gym and helps coach the kids’ classes. He also enjoys woodworking, playing with microcontrollers and tiny computers, and honestly…reading the comments.
