What’s the one piece of gear you rely on the most?

Whether you’re deploying to a combat zone or gearing up for a stroll through your neighborhood, everyone requires a solid loadout, though presumably your priorities and concerns are different at home compared to abroad. Just as you had your go-to gear on deployment — like that collapsible tripod you’d sit on to brew a cup of coffee on your Jetboil first thing in the morning — back home in the states everyone has that one tool or piece of equipment they swear by.

Personally, I rely on the Leatherman Wave multitool my brother handed out to groomsmen at his wedding years ago, a regular piece of my daily kit on par with my wallet, watch, and keys and an essential sidekick when doing repairs around the house. Sure, it’s not as exciting as a KA-BAR or some 550 cord, but it gets the job done for whatever domestic mission I set my mind to.

Our tools shape us as much as we shape them, and the best ones make us smarter, better, and hardier whether we’re on the battlefield or off. And while we here at Task & Purpose are working tirelessly to bring you the latest and greatest gear on the market, we also want to hear from you, our readers. More specifically: what’s the one piece of gear you rely on most?

Leave your recommendations in the form or comments section below. The more specific you can be, the better!
