1. Portfolio assistant in St. Louis, Missouri

Not only does St. Louis have a great parks system and a vibrant foodie community, the city was also ranked number six on the list for its lower-than-average cost of living and highest dollar amount of defense contracts among the top 10 cities. Coming in at number seven on the best places for vets list, Virginia Beach is no stranger to the military community. With the second-highest veterans pay-rate increase and second-highest number of veteran-owned businesses of all the cities on the list, this city is filled with opportunity for transitioning service members. This systems administrator role with Robert Half is a perfect fit for veterans who served in occupational specialties such as information technology specialist, client systems specialist, or information technology officer. 4. Accounts receivable specialist in Dallas, Texas

Dallas, Texas, the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States, was ranked as the ninth best place for veterans to pursue a career in 2015. The city has the highest household income, largest amount of job growth, and a lower-than-average rate of veteran unemployment among the cities ranked on the list.

Transitioning service members who possess an associate’s degree and at least two years of experience in finance would should consider this accounts receivable opening with Mohawk Industries. As a leading global manufacturer and distributor of flooring products, Mohawk operates a robust veterans recruiting program and is known for its military-friendly culture. Rounding out the top 10 on the best places for veterans to pursue new careersis another Texas city: San Antonio. San Antonio ranked high as the place with the lowest cost of living among the top 10 and the highest when it came to growth in veteran wages. Transitioning military men and women who have outgoing personalities and at least one year of supervisory experience will make exceptional candidates for this position with Hospital Corporation of America.
