The remains of John Paul Jones’ ship, the Bonhomme Richard, have been found just off the British coast, and are supposedly visible from a cliff and walkable at certain tides.
Local hustlers are looking forward to what they imagine will be a flood off Yankee dollars flowing in from the “lucrative” American market. “He is as familiar to American maritime students as Admiral Lord Nelson is to ours,” avers some guy to the Yorkshire Post.
Says the head of the outfit that plans to exploit the site, “He’s considered one of the founding fathers of the United States, despite the fact that he was effectively a Scottish pirate.”
