In addition to being a veteran, I’m also a dog person. So this ad from the Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation hit me right in the gut.
It shows a soldier in a war zone, living through a terrible situation of suffering and devastation. When a fellow soldier comes to comfort him, it is quickly revealed that he was in a nightmare and that was his service dog.
There are two great take-aways here:
One is the intended message, that service dogs can be an important ally to veterans and others coping with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The other is the incredible ability of the film maker to deliver a powerful message in 30 seconds.
“Because we not only help people who cannot see, but also those who have seen too much.”
