President Donald Trump has officially nominated Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to take over as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan announced on Tuesday

President Donald Trump has officially nominated Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to take over as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan announced on Tuesday.

Trump announced Milley’s nomination last December, though he did not specify when Miley would take over for the current Chairman, Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, who is set to retire on October 1st.

President Trump has nominated Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville to take over as the Army Chief.
