An F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed during a training flight near Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico on Tuesday, Air Force officials announced.

The aircraft, assigned to the 49th Wing, went down 80 miles southeast of the base around 7:16 pm local time on Tuesday, 49th Wing officials said in a statement on Wednesday.

The pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft and is currently being treated at a local hospital.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
