Two U.S. troops were killed in Iraq on Sunday, according to a Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve press release.

The service members were killed by enemy forces, the release said, while "advising and accompanying Iraqi Security Forces during a mission to eliminate an ISIS terrorist stronghold in a mountainous area of north central Iraq."

Their identities are being withheld until their next of kin have been notified.
